In the Old Testament, God commanded his people to give the first and best portions of the harvest as an offering to Him. This was knows as the offering of First Fruits; an offering which represented an acknowledgement of God’s gracious provision and of the ongoing trust that the people believed God would continue to provide. Our “First Fruits” stewardship campaign is our recognition that God has been wonderfully generous to our church and that we trust that God will continue to provide for us — for our own blessing and so that we can bless others.
Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of Lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. In fulfillment of his own purpose he gave birth to us by the Word of truth, so that we would become a kind of first fruits of his creatures. - James 1:17-18
