"Retired Whitworth journalism Professor Gordon Jackson grew up in South Africa, with English as his home language. But when he came to the United States in 1974 to do his master’s degree at Wheaton College, he discovered that American English was even more different than he expected. In this insightful presentation he describes some of his encounters with what he calls “a strange language,” illustrated by examples of amusing signs he has encountered.
Since retiring from Whitworth, Jackson has been prolific in writing a range of books, most recently a series of devotionals. A sampling of his 22 published books will be on sale after his presentation, with 25 percent of the proceeds going to support the work of the Barton English Language School at First Presbyterian Church."
We are so grateful for Gordon for so generously sharing his time wit, and a portion of the proceeds from his book sales with Barton. This will definitely be a wonderful night.
