Rev. Dr. Sirirat Pusurinkham, a Presbyterian pastor in Chang Rai, Thailand, works tirelessly as an advocate for women and children.

She founded a Women’s Handicraft Project in 1997 for women in her village, and she continues to purchase products from artisans who hand stitch intricate designs to create beautiful products, especially bags in a wide array of shapes and sizes. The women are paid a fair wage for their work, and the buyers – we, in the Spokane area among them – enjoy one-of-a-kind items that remind us of the creativity and skill of women in another part of the world.

During the Covid crisis in 2020 the women, with their practical skills, created cloth masks for their community, and the church shared food with their neighbors through a Sharing Box/Food ATM! In Sirirat’s words: “This project is helping us support people and families, most of whom are undocumented migrants, refugees and economically poor. Jesus has taught us to share our food.”

Sirirat has visited Spokane on several occasions, and each time we have learned more about her compassion and determined focus to serve children. For many years, beginning in 2003, she led an orphanage that grew to two houses serving 26 orphans. Presently, 10 orphans are in her care, along with many others who have grown to adulthood and continue to need assistance for education, food, and daily needs.

By purchasing beautiful, handmade products we support the efforts of Rev. Dr. Sirirat Pusurinkham and the team at Prachakittisuk Church who are dedicated to improving the lives of those among them with great needs. We thank you for your support!
