Special Worship Gatherings

Worship services that happen once throughout the year, and occur with the seasons of the church, and highlight the liturgical year

  • Winter Solstice Service, 7:00PM, December 20th (in 2013), is a service focused on prayer/healing in a season that is often quite painful for many people. Sermon is led by our Associate Pastor of Congregational Care, Rev. Betsy Wynne, with music by the FPC Mountain Band 
  • Christmas Eve, December 24th, is the culmination of the season of Advent, and the celebration of Christ's birth.
    • 4:00PM Family Candlelight Service with scripture, prayers, and a sermon by our Associate Pastor Rev. Jeremy Sanderson, the FPC Children's Choir and the Worship Band, with lighting of candles while singing Silent Night 
    • 7:00PM & 9:00PM Candlelight Services with scripture, prayer, a sermon by our Senior Pastor Rev. John Sowers, the FPC Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, soloists, and instrumental ensembles celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ
    • 11:00PM Candlelight Communion Service, with the sermon by our Senior Pastor Rev. John Sowers, and the Communitas Worship Team
  • Ash Wednesday, 7:00PM, six weeks prior to Easter, is a service with the Imposition of Ashes (we burn the the palms of the previous Palm Sunday), and it marks the beginning of the season of Lent, a time of reflection, and preparation for the ressurection of Christ on Easter, with sermon and the music led by the Communitas Team
  • Diamond Jubilee. . . ..to be announced
  • Palm Sunday, 8:45, 11:15AM, & 5:00PM, the Sunday before Easter, celebrates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, scriptuire, prayers, sermon, and music led by the children's choir
  • Maundy Thursday, 7:00PM, the Thursday before Easter, is a Celebration and commemoration of Jesus' last supper, with communion, scripture, prayers, and a sermon by our Associate Pastor Jeremy Sanderson, with music led by the FPC Mountain Band
  • Good Friday, 7:00PM, the Friday before Easter, is a solemn service marking the death of Jesus, with scriptuire readings, prayer, times of silence and meditation, with music led by the FPC Chancel Choir, Handbells, and soloists 
  • Easter Sunday
    • 6:30AM Worship at Manito Park Shelter on the South Hill. A Celelbration of the ressurection of Christ, with scripture, prayer, and a sermon by our Senior Pastor Rev. John Sowers and the Communitas Worship Team
    • 8:45AM Worship in the Sanctuary at FPC. A Celebration of the ressurection of Christ, with scripture, prayer, the crown of roses, and a sermon by our Senior Pastor Rev. John Sowers, and music led by the FPC Worship Band
    • 11:15AM Worship in the Sanctuary at FPC. A Celebration of the ressurection of Christ, with scriptrure, prayer, the crown of roses, and a sermon by our Senior Pastor Rev. John Sowers,  with music by the FPC Choir, Handbells, soloists, and brass
    • 5:00PM Worship in the Sanctuary at FPC, lead by the Communitas Worship Team.
