Summer Serve Trip 2018

We are getting in the rhythm of getting away together to love God and love others each summer. For adults and families at FPC, this is a chance to build community, get our hands dirty serving, and grow in faith together. All are welcome! This year, we'll be arriving at Camp Gifford on Deer Lake the evening of Wednesday, August 15th, and departing back for Spokane Saturday evening, August 18th. We'd love to have your family join us for all (or part) of this experience together. We will serve during the day in Deer Park at Habitat for Humanity and elsewhere, share meals together, worship and grow in our faith in the evenings, and we'll play a lot too! This is a reasonably priced retreat/service trip, and a priceless opportunity for shared experiences, closer-knit community, and deeper faith. Print the registration brochure, and return it with payment by June 30th!

Please email Ross Carper to express interest and for further details at or call at 509-279-8388.

last year's trip

...was excellent! About 25 people enjoyed a chance to get away together in Deer Park and on Deer Lake. We'd love to have even more involved this time around! We want to offer more service/craft/game options for kids and families if we get enough to sign up for the trip! Also, we want this trip to be an expression of our community and a team effort: let us know if you'd like to help create this experience.

Habitat for humanity spokane and FPC

We couldn't be happier to partner closely with Habitat on their major neighborhood building endeavor Hope Meadows. This neighborhood is roughly 1/3 complete, and will eventually house 114 families in high-quality, energy efficient new homes, built by you! As a strong mission partner of Habitat, First Presbyterian Church was the 2018 winner of the "Faith Builder" Award at their annual luncheon, for excellence in service and giving to build hope and build homes alongside local families.

The salvation army's Camp Gifford

We are excited to be staying on Deer Lake at Camp Gifford for this year's retreat. They offer various housing options in the cabins and houses on the property, they offer meal service, ropes course and other fun activities, and if you want to bring your RV, that works too (just let us know!). And by staying at Camp Gifford, we're supporting the work of the Salvation Army and the excellent things Camp Gifford offers to at-risk youth!
