Sermons

Communitas Sermons are oriented around books of the Bible that we go through in order to better understand the person of Jesus as He reveals to us the very nature of God. To the right of this page you can navigate and search by the Speakers, Sermon Series or by Book of the Bible.

  • Sermon 2: Who is Jesus Christ? - Fully God and Fully Man – April 17, 2016

  • Sermon 1: Who is God? - Trinity – April 10, 2016

In this series we begin to look at 10 big truths that we hold to that bind us together as Christ has bound himself to us. When we ask the question, who is God, we ask the question that all humans ask. The answer that the Bible has is both challenging and practical, both simple and difficult. God shows us that He is one throughout all of Scripture, yet we also see that God is three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As we start this series we see Jesus' call to his earlies disciples to go and baptize. When he calls them, he calls them in the name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. We must not overlook that if we are to understand who God is.

  • Sermon 20: A Twelve Year Tragedy – August 26, 2012

In Luke 8 we see the stories of two women in very different situations that each need the compassionate touch of Jesus Christ. The first is a young woman, just twelve years old, that is on the verge of death. The other is a woman who has led a life that felt like a death sentence for the previous twelve years of her life as she lived a barren, isolated existence. Christ touches both of them it is with that touch that He brings us out of our own isolation and barrenness as well.

  • Sermon 19: Bad News and Good News – August 19, 2012

Looking at our lives sometimes it can feel as though the bad news around us greatly outweighs the good news. As we look at the story of this demon oppressed man we see Jesus heal him and cast demons out of him which was incredibly good news to him. Unfortunately for the people around him there was a real cost to them and their livelihood that seemed like very, very bad news. In this sermon we explore the cost of discipleship to the person and the community as they seek to follow Jesus no matter the cost, and no matter how good or how bad their surroundings realizing that at times the bad news becomes very, very good news.
