FPC CARE MINISTRIES

WE, WHO ARE MANY, ARE ONE BODY IN CHRIST, AND INDIVIDUALLY WE ARE MEMBERS ONE OF ANOTHER. ROMANS 12:5

At First Presbyterian we desire to love one another and our world, through mutual support, encouragement, and service in times of need. Our care is a reflection of God’s care for his people.

If you or someone you love is in need of prayer and care, please contact us.

For prayer or care requests, use the online form link or leave a voice mail message on the Deacons Prayer Line  747-1050 (checked daily). To contact Pastor Betsy Wynne, call 747-1058x253.

FUNERALS AND MEMORIALS

When someone we love has died, a funeral or memorial service is a unique opportunity for survivors to remember and celebrate their loved one’s life and to hear again the Christian promise of life after death in Jesus Christ. The pastors and staff at FPC consider it a great privilege to help families walk through the early days of loss.

Journeying Through Grief is a four-book series the FPC Deacons can provide that takes you through the first year after a loss, sharing helpful insights about grief, biblical truths, and stories that provide comfort and reassurance.

The FPC Library also has an extensive selection of books to help you following a loss.  You are welcome to come in Sunday mornings or during church business hours to spend some time in the library and check out books to take home.

As a gift of love to your family, we encourage you to complete our My Wishes for my Memorial Service form. This can help your loved ones with identifying your favorite Scripture, hymn or praise songs, and even your preferred funeral home. We will gladly keep this on file for you at the church and it can be updated at any time.

GriefShare

No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process.  We know it hurts and we want to help.  FPC is offering a 13-week seminar and support group for those grieving the loss of a loved one.  GriefShare is a weekly video seminar series featuring some of the nation’s foremost Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective. Each seminar is  combined with small group discussion time to allow participants to talk about the content of the seminar and about how they are dealing with the death of their loved one.

PRAYER MINISTRY

Growing deeper with the Lord always involves prayer. Our prayer chain lifts up the needs of the church community and the world on a daily basis. Deacons respond to prayer requests with sympathetic cards, phone calls, and visits where appropriate.

REJOICE IN HOPE, BE PATIENT IN SUFFERING, PERSEVERE IN PRAYER. ROMANS 12:15

Everyone needs help sometimes. We all need God’s help all the time! At FPC we believe in the power of prayer, and have seen lives changed countless times as a result. Some church members pray daily for the prayer chain requests that show up in email inboxes; some gather weekly to pray at the church building.

If you need prayer, or if you would like others to join you in praying for a loved one, please get in touch. All prayer requests are held in confidentiality or shared as requested. You can leave a message on the Deacons' Prayer Line, 747-1050, or contact the Associate Pastor for Congregational Care, Pastor Betsy Wynne at 747-1058 x253. Alternatively, if you would like submit a prayer request online, you can do so by clicking this link.

There is always a member of the Prayer Team available to pray with you following each Sunday worship service.

If you're ever looking for a quiet place to pray, stop in to our dedicated Prayer Room, just off the sanctuary (south side). This lovely room was previously a coat closet—refurbished with a generous gift in memory of Ruth Thompson, so we think of it as our prayer closet! (See Matthew 6:6.)

To subscribe to the Daily Prayer Chain emails, please contact Rene, renef@spokanefpc.org.
