The Office of Deacons

The office of Deacon as set forth in scripture is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Christ. The Deacons are organized to help meet the diverse needs in our community through ministries of benevolence, cards, prayer, transportation, memorial receptions, senior care, communion, and health, disabililty & visitation.

How Deacons Serve

  • Card Ministry Team
Deacons serving on the cards ministry team send birthday cards to congregational members 70 years of age and older. They also send cards of sympathy and encouragement when the need is brought to their attention.
  • Comminications Ministry Team works to inform the congregation of the services provided by the Deacons and to encourage their use.
  • Health, Disability and Visitation Team
This ministry team serves the community by addressing health care issues through the work of parish nurses and others. They also encourage those who are ill or disabled through visits and phone calls or by accompanying individuals to medical care. Our many visiting deacons also coordinate other services.
    • Benevolence Ministry
    • Communion Ministry
    • Courtesy Food Ministry
    • Transportation Ministry
    • Senior Ministry Team
  • Memorial Reception Ministry Team
This ministry team is a coordination of people to provide the service of refreshments for memorial receptions held at the church.
  • Prayer Chain Ministry Team
This ministry provides a confidential way for prayers to be given attention by the church body. Requests for prayer are forwarded to this team who has made a commitment to pray. When requested, these prayers are also given attention each week at the Thursday morning prayer meeting.
